- “A Software System to Support Courseware Design Teams”
|
|
4
|
- A software tool to help courseware design and development teams apply
instructional design methods used by experts
- Multi-user through a LAN
- Provides an instructional design ‘platform’ for all team members
- Supports the use of the ISRD Expert Design Method by team members
|
|
5
|
- CDST Basis in Research
- The CDST was developed as part of a study sponsored by the Office of
Naval Research, Division of Cognitive, Neural and Social Research.
- Purpose of the Study
- To address the need for more use of
instructional design methods and learning research by military
training organizations
- To provide a research-based instructional design tool for use by entire
courseware teams
- To assist courseware teams of subject-matter experts (SMEs), media
artists, instructors, and other team members with the use of instructional design
methods
|
|
6
|
- Based on the study results:
- Success factors of expert courseware designers were identified
- The overarching process of expert design was identified
- The ‘ISRD Expert Design Method’ was created to reflect best practices
- The method designed to help courseware teams use expert courseware
designer practices was developed and
refined through a series of try-outs.
- Over 100 detailed instructional design sub-processes were identified
and analyzed.
- Worksheets were created as job-aids for each sub-process
|
|
7
|
- The CDST was created
- to provide an electronic performance support tool for using the ISRD
Expert Design Method
- The CDST included all worksheets for the method
- The CDST supports the entire
expert courseware development method
